Summary Punjab has launched a major school upgrade initiative, including 25,000 new classrooms, IT labs, and improved facilities.
MULTAN (Dunya News) - Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced the launch of a large-scale programme aimed at upgrading government schools across the province under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During a visit to Multan, the minister inaugurated development projects at Government Aam Khas High School and reviewed ongoing education sector initiatives. He said the School Education Department had accelerated the construction of new classrooms and IT laboratories in public schools.
Provincial Secretary School Education Mudassar Riaz Malik accompanied the minister during the visit, where the foundation stone for additional classrooms was also laid.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Sikandar Hayat said that 25,000 new classrooms were being constructed across Punjab at a cost of billions of rupees. He added that upgrading school boundary walls, establishing IT laboratories, and improving sports facilities remained key government priorities.
The minister said record development projects had been launched to provide students with modern and quality educational facilities. He also announced that the per-student subsidy for learners enrolled in PEF-supported schools had been doubled.
He emphasized that increased investment in education would further improve the standard of government schools and help ensure access to quality education for every child.
Rana Sikandar Hayat said the Punjab government was focusing on strengthening educational infrastructure under its education-friendly policies and directed officials to complete development projects within the stipulated timeframe.
