FIA arrests NADRA officials in Charsadda over illegal CNIC issuance

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Peshawar carried out a raid at a NADRA center in Charsadda and arrested several officials over allegations related to the issuance of national identity cards to foreign nationals and Afghan citizens.

The operation was conducted on the instructions of FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Peshawar Deputy Director Rana Shahid Habib. The raid was supervised by Assistant Director Abdul Qayyum.

According to officials, a NADRA employee was taken into custody on charges of facilitating the issuance of national identity cards to non-citizens. Among those arrested were NADRA Assistant Director Waqar Ahmed, along with Ataullah Jan, Ahmed Raza and Sajjad Ali.

Sources said that documents and other important evidence were recovered during the operation. A case has been registered against the arrested officials and an investigation has been launched.

Sources further stated that Waqar Ahmed Khan is already under investigation in multiple cases and inquiries.

An FIA spokesperson said raids are continuing at various locations to arrest additional individuals suspected of facilitating the alleged activities.
