ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser on Finance Muzammil Aslam on Wednesday mockingly said that the federal government is struggling to complete the preparations of budget for the next fiscal year.
Muzammil Aslam said that the meeting of the National Economic Council was postponed at the last moment, while the Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meeting was also rescheduled from May 21 to June 1.
Muzammil Aslam stated that the delay in the budget has created concern within the business community, and its impact is also being reflected in the stock market. He added that the government is facing an issue of over-commitment to the IMF, and it has also been unable to control its expenditures.
He further said that coalition partners are not prepared to fully support the government. He said that the federal government has set a tax collection target of Rs 430 billion for the provinces and wants them to collect taxes from the agriculture and property sectors.
