Summary Eight people were arrested in Karachi’s Keamari area for dumping sacrificial animal waste on roads during an Eid cleanliness operation by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Authorities in Karachi have arrested eight people in Keamari for allegedly dumping sacrificial animal waste on roads during Eidul Azha, as part of a citywide cleanliness enforcement drive.
According to officials, the action was taken by the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) during monitoring operations under the ongoing Eid cleanliness campaign. The accused were reportedly found throwing animal remains and offal on streets instead of using designated disposal points set up by the civic authorities.
Officials said the operation was carried out in line with directives issued by the Commissioner Karachi, which prohibit the disposal of sacrificial waste in public places. The notification warned of strict legal action against violations during the Eid sanitation drive.
The SSWMB stated that teams had been deployed across different parts of the city to ensure proper waste management and prevent unhygienic conditions during the Eid period. The Keamari arrests were made after reports of improper dumping in residential and commercial areas.
Managing Director SSWMB Tariq Ali Nizamani said strict enforcement of cleanliness rules would continue throughout Eidul Azha. He added that violations of sanitation guidelines would not be tolerated under any circumstances and legal action would be taken against offenders.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with sanitation workers and use designated collection points to dispose of animal waste responsibly, warning that negligence can lead to health and environmental issues, particularly in hot weather conditions.
