QUETTA (Dunya News) – A major counter-terrorism operation in Balochistan resulted in the killing of nine militants, while four personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) embraced martyrdom during a fierce exchange of fire in the province.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out in the outskirts of Panjpai and Nohsar following intelligence reports regarding the presence of militant elements in the area. Security forces launched the raid with the objective of dismantling an alleged militant network believed to be operating in the region.

As the operation unfolded, CTD personnel came under heavy fire, triggering an intense gun battle that lasted for a significant period. During the exchange, nine militants were killed. However, the operation also claimed the lives of four CTD personnel who were martyred while carrying out their duties.

The spokesperson stated that six other CTD personnel sustained injuries during the operation. The wounded officers were shifted to nearby hospitals for immediate medical treatment and emergency care.

Authorities said the operation was intelligence-based and formed part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant infrastructure and armed networks in Balochistan. Security forces reportedly continue to conduct search and clearance activities in the area as part of efforts to locate any remaining suspects and ensure complete control of the region.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to the four fallen CTD personnel and extended condolences and sympathies to the families of the martyrs.

In a statement issued following the operation, the interior minister praised the sacrifices of the officers, saying the brave personnel laid down their lives to foil the malicious intentions of terrorists. He also commended CTD Balochistan for the operation and said the sacrifices of the martyred personnel would always be remembered.

Naqvi further offered prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured officers and reiterated support for security personnel engaged in counter-terrorism efforts across the country.
Search operations in the affected areas remained ongoing as authorities continued efforts to secure the region and investigate the wider network believed to be linked to the militants.
