Summary Bilawal Bhutto inaugurated 11 health projects in Quetta, pledging improved healthcare, trauma services and expanded medical facilities in Balochistan.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday inaugurated 11 development projects in Quetta, with a major focus on the health sector.

Addressing a ceremony held for the inauguration of health projects in Quetta, Bilawal said the Pakistan Peoples Party had always pursued people-friendly politics and believed in serving underprivileged communities.

He said the world was facing multiple challenges that were contributing to economic hardships, adding that every individual eventually required medical treatment and access to healthcare.

Bilawal stressed that free and quality healthcare was the right of every Pakistani and said efforts were underway to ensure the provision of basic facilities in underdeveloped regions.

He said public access to free medical services remained a top priority of the party and the provincial government.

The PPP chairman stated that Sarfaraz Bugti had originally planned to inaugurate 20 projects, but 11 were launched during the current visit, while the remaining projects would be inaugurated after Eid.

Bilawal said the PPP had consistently prioritised the health sector and was committed to providing free and quality treatment facilities to the public.

He praised the Balochistan government for not only initiating projects over the past two years but also completing them successfully.

Bilawal added that he had requested the chief minister to invite him to Quetta more frequently to review development progress.

Highlighting the importance of emergency healthcare, he said the province urgently needed an air ambulance service to ensure swift transfer of patients during emergencies.

He further said the Quetta Trauma Centre, comprising 150 beds, would provide free and quality treatment, while doctors from remote areas were already serving patients there.

Bilawal expressed satisfaction over reforms introduced in the Balochistan health department and said the performance of Sindh in the health sector was better than other provinces.

He said he wanted to replicate Sindh-style healthcare initiatives in Balochistan and welcomed the operationalisation of basic health units across the province.

The PPP chairman said primary healthcare formed the foundation of the health system and noted that the Quetta Trauma Centre featured a paperless management system.

Bilawal also announced plans to establish the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases model in Balochistan similar to Sindh.

He said provinces working together reflected the true spirit of the federation and recalled that the polio vaccination campaign had been initiated during the tenure of Benazir Bhutto.

Bilawal said opponents spreading negative propaganda against Pakistan and the province were being answered through practical development work.

“Everything is not perfect and many challenges remain, but if we continue working together with dedication, success will follow,” he added.
