CHARSADDA (Dunya News) - Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has announced nationwide protests on May 8 after Friday prayers, demanding the arrest of those responsible for the killing of former MPA Maulana Muhammad Idrees.
Fazlur Rehman visited Charsadda to offer condolences at the residence of Maulana Idrees and paid tribute to the late religious scholar.
Speaking to the media, he said killing a Muslim over differences of opinion reflects ignorance, adding that Maulana Idrees’ death is a loss for the Muslim community. He said justice would prevail and termed the incident a tragic example of violence against those seeking peace.
He stated that religious scholars stand with the Constitution of Pakistan and stressed that taking up arms within the country is not permissible.
Fazlur Rehman urged authorities and institutions to fulfil their responsibilities and arrest the killers, criticizing them for failing to ensure justice.
