Summary Lahore High Court dismisses delayed petition against land transfer, citing 18-month delay and lack of merit, emphasizing timely legal action.

LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - The Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition filed against a land transfer, citing an unjustified delay of one and a half years.

Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan issued a seven-page written verdict on the plea filed by a citizen, Pathani Mai, rejecting the application on both delay and merit.

The court observed that it only assists individuals who act in a timely manner to protect their rights, adding that those who remain negligent cannot be granted extraordinary relief. It further stated that delays in enforcing judicial decisions defeat the fundamental purpose of the law and cannot be overlooked without valid justification.

According to the case details, the petitioner had challenged the legality of the land transfer and sought its cancellation. However, the court questioned why the petition was filed after a delay of 18 months.

The petitioner failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the delay and could not justify her prolonged silence. The court ruled that the petition was time-barred and did not meet the required legal standards on merit.

The plea was therefore dismissed.
