Summary Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan appreciated the national leadership for taking timely and effective decisions in response to evolving security challenges.

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) - Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Tuesday said that Pakistan was currently facing multiple internal and external challenges, with regional border issues continuing to exert pressure on the national economy.

Addressing a ceremony in Gujranwala, he noted that the Afghanistan border had not been fully operational for trade purposes, while the country had also faced incidents of cross-border terrorism in the past.

He said Pakistan had rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, including the loss of over one hundred thousand lives, which played a significant role in restoring peace and stability in the country. He appreciated the national leadership for taking timely and effective decisions in response to evolving security challenges.

Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan mentioned that Pakistan held a strong diplomatic standing among Muslim countries and continued to play a constructive role in promoting regional and global peace. He observed that misinformation in parts of the international media had, at times, contributed to heightened tensions in the region.

He also lauded the leadership and armed forces for safeguarding national interests and effectively responding to hostile designs, reaffirming the state’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in all its forms.

On the development side, the Speaker announced that a comprehensive up gradation and beautification plan for the Gujranwala vegetable market would be included in the upcoming provincial budget to address long-standing infrastructural deficiencies and improve civic facilities for traders and the public.

He noted that the condition of the vegetable market in Gujranwala, similar to that of his native town Khadian, required urgent attention to ensure improved sanitation, infrastructure, and better facilitation for all stakeholders.
