LAHORE (Dunya News) - The recent increase in petroleum product prices has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

According to the petition filed before the court, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs8 per litre, while diesel has seen an increase of Rs5.16 per litre.

The petitioner argued that the hike in petroleum prices is unconstitutional and an anti-public measure that places additional burden on citizens.

The plea stated that the government is not determining petroleum prices in accordance with trends in the international market.

It further maintained that the country is already grappling with inflation and unemployment, and the latest increase will trigger further price hikes, worsening the economic difficulties faced by the public.

The petitioner has requested the court to declare the recent notification regarding the increase in petroleum product prices null and void.
