LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has taken a major step in the healthcare sector by planning the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Medical District in Lahore, following the model of the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Care Hospital.

According to sources, over 1,500 kanals of land have been allocated for Punjab’s first medical district, with initial PC-1 and 3D designs already completed.

The project includes a helipad on 22.87 kanals and a gas station on 32.38 kanals of land.

Officials said the medical district will, for the first time, include a biodiversity park, introducing modern green spaces for citizens. Mixed-use commercial areas have also been planned, with 28.89 kanals for Commercial One and 28.69 kanals for Commercial Two.

The design features a Civic Avenue connecting various hospitals, along with a 250-foot-wide Sunset Avenue.

For pedestrian convenience, 53.99 kanals have been allocated for crosswalks, including pedestrian bridges and Canal Vista development.

The district will be linked to the Lahore Ring Road, providing direct access for patients and visitors.

The first facility within the Nawaz Sharif Medical District will be the Institute of Ophthalmology, with an estimated cost of PKR 1.78 billion. Construction is expected to begin in the current financial year.
