ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - During the hearing of the audio leak case at the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad, Ali Amin Gandapur appeared in court, leading to the cancellation of his arrest warrant and the termination of proceedings against him as a proclaimed offender.
The hearing was conducted by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch. Ali Amin Gandapur, accompanied by his lawyer Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, appeared in court, while co-accused Asad Farooq Khan was also present.
The court formally charged both Gandapur and Khan in the audio leak case. During the proceedings, the judge remarked that Gandapur had repeatedly failed to appear in court, to which he responded that security concerns, curfews, and road blockages had prevented his earlier appearances.
Gandapur told the court that he had been discussing license-related matters over a call and that his mobile phone was seized during raids. Judge Baloch observed that mere claims by the prosecution are insufficient for conviction, noting that charges had not been framed for a long time.
Gandapur’s lawyer requested the cancellation of the arrest warrant, stating that the court has the authority to revoke a warrant once the accused appears. The court approved the request, instructing Gandapur to exercise caution and appear regularly in future hearings.
The court further advised that if similar situations arise, a formal exemption request from attendance should be filed. The next hearing of the case has been adjourned until April 6, 2026.
