Police say up to four kilograms of explosives packed with ball bearings were used in the Islamabad mosque suicide blast that killed 32 people and injured over 150 others.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Law enforcement agencies have collected crucial evidence related to the suicide bombing at a mosque and Imambargah in Islamabad, revealing key details about the attack and the explosives used.

According to police sources, investigators collected forensic evidence from the crime scene with the assistance of the National Forensic Agency and NADRA to aid identification and analysis.

Initial findings indicate that the suicide bomber opened fire before carrying out the attack.

The attacker fired two shots on the way to the mosque and Imambargah, and later fired six more shots inside the main hall. Bullet casings were recovered from the site.

After the firing, the attacker detonated himself inside the mosque hall.

Police sources said up to four kilograms of explosive material were used in the blast, containing a high quantity of ball bearings to maximize damage.

It is recalled that a suicide bombing at the Khadija-tul-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area claimed 32 lives, while more than 150 people were injured.
