LAHORE (Dunya News) - On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a special emergency plan has been issued to deal with any untoward situation during the Basant festival.

Punjab Emergency Services have provided additional emergency resources for Lahore. More than 1,200 rescuers, 56 ambulances, 24 fire vehicles, and 300 rescue motorcycles will be deployed at key locations across the provincial capital.

While briefing the media, Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer said that along with 23 rescue stations, special “key points” will be established at important locations in Lahore.

He said that emergency ambulances, fire vehicles, and rescue motorcycles will be stationed at 180 critical key points in addition to rescue stations.

Dr Rizwan Naseer added that rescue motorcycles will be deployed at special key points to ensure timely access in narrow streets and congested traffic areas.

He further said that special rescue teams will also be deployed in the inner city, Mozang, Ichhra, Shadbagh, and Data Darbar areas.

Dr Rizwan Naseer said that in case of a major emergency, rescue teams from nearby districts will be available for immediate backup. Along with the Basant festival rescue and medical cover, routine rescue operations will also continue.

He added that the Provincial Emergency Operations Center and the Lahore District Command and Control Center will monitor all operations during the Basant festival.
