KARACHI (Dunya News) – Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that development work is underway across Karachi and modern buses will operate on every road of the city.

During a session of the Sindh Assembly, special prayers were offered in the prayer break for the survival and security of Pakistan, the martyrs of the Gul Plaza incident, and those who lost their lives in traffic accidents in Karachi.

PPP member Heer Soho, while requesting prayers for the Lahore incident, sarcastically asked whether there would now be a demand to hand over Lahore to the federation as well.

Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Syed Owais Qadir Shah informed the house that the Sindh Assembly will host the Commonwealth Conference after 14 years, scheduled for February 4. He urged assembly members to ensure full participation and approved a motion moved by Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon to convert the assembly hall into a conference hall.

Responding to questions related to the transport department during question hour, Sharjeel Memon said that modern buses will run on every road in Karachi. He added that more buses are currently present at Karachi Port, work is underway on a smart traffic system, free shuttle services are being provided from bus terminals, and the decision to keep buses outside the city was taken to reduce traffic congestion.

The senior minister further stated that 15,000 women have applied for the Pink Scooty scheme. A private company is providing free training, and women who pass the traffic test will be given scooters.

Talking about infrastructure, Sharjeel Memon said that roads across Karachi are being constructed, with the KMC and the Local Government Department actively working on road development. He added that mega projects are ongoing in the city and the Sindh Chief Minister has recently allocated Rs 90 billion for these initiatives.
