LAHORE (Dunya News) – Eight people sustained burns in a fire caused by leaking gas near Attari Darbar here on Monday.
According to Rescue spokespersons, the explosion occurred in a house near Attari Darbar on Ferozepur Road. The blast, triggered by turning on a heater in a room filled with gas, led to a fire that caused burn injuries to eight people. All the injured were shifted to the Lahore General Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, in Chak Shafi, Pakpattan, an explosion occurred during cylinder refilling, causing the shop’s roof to collapse and breaking electricity wires. A fire also broke out in the shop, which was later brought under control by rescue teams.
Just a day earlier, a gas leak explosion in Islamabad turned a wedding house into a scene of tragedy, killing eight people including the bride and groom.
Over the past three years, there have been 488 gas cylinder blast incidents in Punjab alone, claiming 25 lives. However, due to negligence and carelessness by relevant authorities, unsafe storage and refilling of gas cylinders continues at many places even today.
