SARGODHA (Dunya News) - Two police personnel were killed and three others injured when a police mobile van was hit by a high-speed train in Sargodha.

According to reports, the train was coming from Karachi.

The police said that the tragic incident occurred near 78 Bridge, where a Cantonment Police mobile van was on routine patrol.

While crossing an open railway crossing, the van was struck by the Karachi-bound Millat Express, which was travelling at high speed.

As a result of the collision, two police officials riding in the van died on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries.

Upon receiving information about the accident, police contingents and rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies of the martyred personnel and the injured to a nearby hospital.

Earlier, four people were killed and two injured in a collision between two motorcycles on Head Baloki Road.

Having being informed, police and rescue teams scrambled to the accident site and launched rescue operation by sending the dead and the injured to Phoolnagar Trauma Centre.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident was the outcome of reckless driving. It said excessive speed of the bikes took lives of the riders.
