Punjab continues drive against illegal foreign residents, over 31,000 deported

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The process of deporting illegally residing foreign nationals is continuing across Punjab, with law enforcement authorities maintaining heightened security and operational measures.

According to the Inspector General of Punjab Police, a total of 31,377 foreign nationals, including Afghan citizens, have so far been deported from Lahore and other districts of the province. In addition, 203 illegally residing individuals are currently present at designated holding points awaiting further processing.

Official figures show that those deported include 11,576 men, 6,679 women, and 13,133 children. Among them were 10,043 individuals holding residential proof, 11,067 Afghan Citizen Card holders, and 10,267 foreigners found to be residing illegally without valid documentation.

The IG Punjab stated that five holding centres have been established in Lahore, while 46 holding centres are operational across the province to facilitate the process in an organized and lawful manner. Security has been placed on high alert at all facilities to ensure smooth operations and prevent any untoward incidents.

Authorities emphasized that the deportation drive is being carried out strictly in line with international laws and protocols, ensuring humane treatment of all individuals during the process. The Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to completing the repatriation of all illegally residing foreign nationals while maintaining public order and safeguarding human rights.
