Over 100 militants surrender in Balochistan, join national mainstream

QUETTA (Dunya News) - More than 100 armed militants, including a senior commander of a proscribed organization, surrendered to authorities in Sui, Balochistan, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to the administration, the militants laid down their weapons, pledged allegiance to Pakistan, and joined the national mainstream. Commander Wadera Noor Ali Chakarani, along with his associates, handed over their arms to Mir Aftab Ahmed Bugti during the ceremony.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti congratulated the commander and all individuals who chose to return to peaceful life. He said the decision by Wadera Noor Ali Chakarani and over 100 of his companions to join the national fold was “highly commendable” and a positive development for the region.

“These men raised Pakistan’s flag and began their journey towards peace,” the Chief Minister remarked, adding that this was a clear message that the doors of dialogue were never closed by the state.

Sarfraz Bugti emphasized that intelligence-based operations against anti-state elements are continuing across Balochistan, while those who abandon violence and accept the Constitution of Pakistan will be welcomed.

“Anyone who mistakes the state’s leniency as weakness will be pursued until the very end,” he warned.

The provincial leadership believes the mass surrender will strengthen peace efforts in Sui and surrounding areas, encouraging more armed groups to reconsider militancy and integrate into society.

Authorities hailed the event as another step toward stability in a region long affected by insurgency.
