Chief Justice Yahya Afridi announced that Pakistan’s entire judiciary will switch to solar energy by August 2026
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi has announced that all courts across the country will be shifted to solar energy by August 2026 as part of a wide-ranging reform plan aimed at transparency, efficiency, and public service improvement.
Presiding over a high-level meeting, the Chief Justice said the judiciary’s digital transformation is a “people-centered reform process” designed to make the justice system more transparent and performance-driven.
The meeting also chalked out a roadmap for implementing the e-courts system nationwide. Plans for e-libraries, women facilitation centers, and clean drinking water projects within judicial complexes are also in the pipeline.
The session was attended by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Haroon Rashid, Barrister Ali Zafar, and officials from various institutions.
CJP Yahya Afridi emphasised that all stakeholders would be taken on board to ensure the success of these initiatives. He also directed the Federal Judicial Academy to consult stakeholders and move the process forward without delay.
By taking the lead on solar transformation, the judiciary aims to set an example for other state institutions to follow, cutting costs and paving the way for a greener, more efficient justice system.
