27th Amendment will be approved through consensus: Sanaullah

Rana Sanaullah said that efforts will be made to take all coalition parties and relevant stakeholders into confidence regarding the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Advisor to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Friday said that efforts are being made to approve the 27th Constitutional Amendment through mutual understanding and consensus.
Speaking in a private TV programms in the federal capital, Rana Sanaullah stated that progress on constitutional matters will be made through mutual agreement. He acknowledged that after the 18th Amendment, there exists an imbalance between the federation and the provinces in certain areas, which must be resolved through dialogue.
He said that running the provinces is the responsibility of the federation, and running the federation is the responsibility of the provinces -- therefore, such matters can only move forward through discussion and cooperation.
Rana Sanaullah further said that positive progress has already begun in this regard, and proposals are under consideration to create harmony without reducing the provinces’ share in the NFC (National Finance Commission) Award.
He said that efforts will be made to take all coalition parties and relevant stakeholders into confidence regarding the 27th Constitutional Amendment. He said that only that amendment will move forward on which everyone agrees, while the points of disagreement will be kept under discussion for the future.
He further said that during the amendment process, other issues, such as the local government system, overseas Pakistanis’ voting rights, judges’ transfers, and the scope of the Election Commission, will also be decided through consensus.
