ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a suspect involved in selling Pakistani citizens’ personal data openly on the internet.

Two months ago, reports surfaced about the illegal sale of citizens’ data online, prompting Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to take notice and direct the NCCIA to launch an investigation.

According to NCCIA sources, the agency acted on the minister’s orders and arrested the suspect, identified as Anis Ahmed Shah, for operating multiple websites selling personal data. The accused hails from Tehsil Darya Khan, District Bhakkar.

Officials further revealed that a one-terabyte hard drive, mobile phones, and a laptop were recovered from the suspect’s possession. He was reportedly running more than ten websites used for selling citizens’ data.
