FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza was presented before the anti-terrorism court after his arrest and subsequently sent to jail.

The Faisalabad ATC ordered his transfer to jail, and he was escorted there under police security.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza was traveling from Peshawar to Faisalabad when Islamabad Police arrested him. Acting Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Sahibzada Hasan Raza, confirmed the arrest.

Member of the National Assembly Sahibzada Hamid Raza had earlier been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with the May 9 incidents.

The verdict, announced on July 31, 2025, followed hearings on cases involving an attack on a sensitive institution and charges filed at Ghulam Muhammadabad Police Station. A total of 108 individuals were given various sentences.

Those convicted included Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, and other leaders, while Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi, and a few others were acquitted.

It is worth noting that Sahibzada Hamid Raza resigned as Secretary of Information for Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan in September this year.
