BAHAWALPUR (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) Bahawalpur Bench on Thursday declared the official wheat price null and void. The decision was delivered by Justice Abid Hussain Chatha.

The court annulled the Punjab government’s notification setting the price at Rs 3,500 per 40kg, stating that the government had failed to take farmers and other relevant stakeholders into confidence when determining the rate.

The court held that the decision violated the principles of law and justice, and directed that the wheat price be determined through a transparent procedure.

The court emphasized that farmers should receive fair compensation for their hard work, and instructed the provincial government to consult with the competent authority to set a new price.
