Pakistan is not part of the trip of US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman and is not being included in the reconciliation talks with Taliban at this stage.Marc Grossman leaves for Kabul today to discuss Taliban reconciliation efforts. He will also visit Ankara, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Doha during the 12-day trip.The US has expressed support for an Afghan-led reconciliation, for a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has asked Ambassador Grossman to go to Afghanistan and Qatar to continue consultations with President Karzai and other Afghan groups as well as the Qataris on this effort.Hillary Clinton has already said that US will support Afghans for reconciliation if it can end conflict.Grossman will also consult with other regional governments to make it widely acceptable.It is not yet been made clear whether Grossman will also meet Taliban leaders in Doha or not.Taliban have opened an office in Doha to help in talks’ process, which is being considered a breakthrough in negotiation. Taliban have also asked for transfer of detainees from Guantanamo Bay as part of the deal.
