Pakistan, China vow to deepen strategic ties, regional cooperation

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi along with a delegation held a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir in Islamabad.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said discussions focused on regional security, counter-terrorism and matters of mutual interest.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen the all-weather strategic partnership and enhance coordination at regional and international forums.
Wang Yi reiterated China’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development.
COAS Asim Munir expressed gratitude for China’s consistent support. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advance peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Pakistan seeks deeper cooperation with China in trade, ICT, and minerals
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said China has always supported Pakistan’s development and protection. He made the remarks during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and senior cabinet members were also present at the meeting.
Speaking with the visiting Chinese minister, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan would continue to strengthen its strategic partnership with China. He thanked the Chinese leadership for its support of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also paying tribute to President Xi Jinping’s leadership.
The prime minister said he was eagerly looking forward to his upcoming visit to Beijing and Tianjin, where he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit as well as events marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. He added that Pakistan is seeking greater cooperation with China in the fields of trade, investment, information and communication technology, agriculture and mineral development.
Shehbaz Sharif underlined the central role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), calling it vital for Pakistan’s socio-economic growth and regional connectivity. He also expressed satisfaction with the continuous progress of CPEC Phase II.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi described Pakistan as China’s “iron brother” and “all-weather strategic partner”. He said China highly values Pakistan’s efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and regional integrity. Wang Yi added that Beijing will continue working closely with Islamabad for regional peace, development and stability.
