ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s bail petitions in eight May 9 related cases till tomorrow (Thursday).

A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, including Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Shafi Siddiqui, was hearing the case.

The proceedings were postponed due to the illness of Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi, who could not appear in court due to food poisoning.

Chief Justice Afridi directed that the matter be taken up again tomorrow, adding that the court would decide further proceedings based on the situation.

During arguments, Imran Khan’s counsel Salman Safdar said the Lahore High Court had dismissed his client’s bail in November last year after six months of hearings across 16 sessions, during which eight different prosecutors were changed.

He argued that repeated adjournments by the prosecution had delayed the case.

The Chief Justice remarked that the court would not allow unnecessary delays but emphasized that the prosecution must first present its arguments to justify the Lahore High Court’s order.

The court refused to allow Khan’s family members present in the courtroom to speak, stating that only the counsel would be heard.
The hearing will resume tomorrow at 10:30 AM.
