KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindi Governor Kamran Tessori on Friday said that the issues faced by pilgrims travelling to Iran and Iraq via land routes will be resolved soon, Dunya News reported.
Talking to the media alongside leaders of Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM), Kamran Tessori said that a decision has been made to send the pilgrims to Iran in a safe manner. A committee has already been formed to send the pilgrims to Iran by air, and it will complete its work within 48 hours.
Kamran Tessori further stated that once the security issues are resolved, land routes will also be reopened. Work is also underway to address the visa issues and other demands of the pilgrims.
It is worth to mention that after successful negotiations between Governor Sindh and MWM on Thursday, the pilgrims postponed their departure to Iran by road. Tessori had said that the caravan from Karachi would not leave for Hub. He also discussed the situation with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and mentioned that talks are ongoing with PIA to arrange flights.
Kamran Tessori added that Allama Raja Nasir Abbas had demanded that the pilgrims be allowed to travel by road. He said discussions would be held with the Iranian government to extend the visa validity. Tessori also mentioned that he had spoken over the phone with Minister of State for Interior, Senator Talal Chaudhry, and discussed the issues of the pilgrims and possible solutions.
He acknowledged that ensuring security is the responsibility of the state and that the government is making every possible effort in this regard. Governor Sindh emphasized that they are fully aware of the pilgrims’ concerns and are doing everything possible to ensure they can begin their sacred journey without delay and in full safety.
