Hazrat Pir Syed Mardan Shah, known as Pir Pagara, was born on 22nd November1928 in Pir Jo Goth.

Pir Pagara was also the spiritual Leader of Hur community and Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F). After the defeat of Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah by Ayub Khan in Presidential run, Mohtarma declared the Muslim League as Functional and made Pir Pagaro the head of this Faction of Muslim League.He had his primary education at pir Jo Goth and stayed three years Aligrah from 1943 to 1946.Pagara’s father Hazrat Pir Syed Sibghatullah Shah was hanged on 20 March 1943 by the British colonial government during his struggle against British Colonial Rule.He started struggle against British rulers for freedom so was called as Suriah Badshah. He was first time arrested in 1930 for his activities against British rulers. In1946 he was kept under house arrest along with his family in Karachi.In 1949 Prime Minister Liaqut Ali Khan met him in England and assured of restoration of Status of Pir Pagara On 4th February 1952 his status of Pir Pagara was officially restored.Pir Sahib had great dominating and impressing personality. He was very kind hearted sympathetic, courageous and brave man. Immediately after restoration of Gadi he had many challenges. Most important challenge was to restore the image of Hur Jamat. British during last 30 years had tarnished the image of Jamat and projected the Jamat as terrorist.Pir Sahib married in 1954 to daughter of Makhdoom Maliak Syed Ghulam Miran Shah. Pir Sahib has three sons, Sibghtullah Shah, Ali Gohar Shah, Sadaruddin Shah from his first wife and a son Hizbullah Shah from his second marriage.Pir Sahib was fond of hunting and horse racing. His political forecast often comes true.Pir Pagara breathed his last at the age of 83 on Tuesday in London.
