Flooding hits over 30 villages as Indus, Chenab rivers overflow

TAUNSA (Dunya News) – A medium-level flood in the Indus River at Taunsa has submerged more than 20 additional villages, causing widespread damage to crops and homes.

Affected residents reported that rising water levels have started collapsing their houses.

Meanwhile, in Jhang, over ten villages have been inundated due to high tides in the Chenab River.

In Layyah, a flow of over 400,000 cusecs has flooded dozens of settlements, and a breach in the Taunsa protective embankment has forced locals to evacuate to safer areas.

The flood situation remains critical in Rajanpur, where water levels in the Indus River continue to rise, and damaging cultivated crops along the riverbanks.

In Mianwali, floodwaters have destroyed mung bean and cotton crops across thousands of acres.
