Three-day closure of educational institutes proposed amid severe smog in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A proposal has been put forward to close schools, colleges, and universities in Lahore on Friday and Saturday due to severe smog.
According to sources, areas such as Gulberg, Liberty, MM Alam Road, and Main Market have also been suggested to be added to the green lockdown list after Shimla Hill.
The Lahore Division commissioner and the environment secretary will present these proposals to Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.
Aurangzeb's approval will determine decisions regarding holidays and a green lockdown in Gulberg to control smog.

To protect children from the polluted air, the primary schools in Lahore have been closed from Nov 4 to 9.
The provincial capital Lahore remains the second most polluted city in the world on Monday as the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city was recorded at 218.
Although the average smog level has decreased compared to Sunday, the situation is still deemed alarming.
