(Web Desk) - International Day for Countering Hate Speech is being observed today.
Theme of this year is "the Power of Youth for Countering and Addressing Hate Speech,” to highlights the crucial role that young people play in fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society.
The purpose of the day is to counter discrimination, islamophobia, xenophobia and hate speech and to address this phenomenon in line with international human rights law.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres launched the United Nations Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech on 18 June 2019.
