LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi was released from Kot Lakhpat Jail here on Tuesday after the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted him bail in a case pertaining to an alleged illegal appointment made in the Punjab Assembly.
The jail authorities confirmed the development, stating that Elahi had been released in all corruption cases, registered against him. He has recently been shifted to Kot Lahkpat jail from Rawalpindi's Adiala prison.

In a message on his official X account, Elahi said, “I am grateful to the judges who supported the truth and I was released. I am grateful to all those who prayed for me and supported me in this difficult time. The people of Gujarat suffered a lot of abuse and cruelty. Even our mandate was stolen in Gujarat.”
His family members and friends received him outside the jail and took him home.
Elahi had been arrested in graft case related to illegal appointments in Punjab Assembly and awarding contracts to favourite people.
Elahi, who is also Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president, was taken into custody on June 1 last year as he faced a series of releases and re-arrests, and remained in detention ever since.
