Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi expressed his displeasure at the PTA for suspending internet
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh High Court on Wednesday ordered restoration of social media apps, including X (Twitter).
Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi, who was hearing plead against suspension of internet service in the country, expressed his displeasure at the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority).
The counsel for the PTA said the authority received instructions from Ministry of Information to switch off internet services in the country on day of polling. The ministry forwarded a letter by Interior Ministry in this regard.
He submitted that the PTA implemented instructions it received.
The chief justice asked him on whose instructions was the internet service suspended on the day of election? What were the security concerns for running the democratic process?
