JI calls for resignation of chief election commissioner, dismissing election results

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Central Majlis-e-Shura of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has declined to accept the resignation submitted by party chief Sirajul Haq following the setbacks encountered during the 2024 general elections.

According to a party spokesperson, the JI's Central Majlis-e-Shura convened under the chairmanship of JI Deputy Chief Liaquat Baloch.

The Central Majlis-e-Shura unanimously rejected the resignation tendered by Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq.

The JI spokesperson affirmed that the party chief would continue fulfilling his responsibilities in accordance with the party constitution.

The spokesperson dismissed the election results and called for the immediate resignation of the chief election commissioner.
