Early life and Education:

Sirajul Haq was born on Sept 5, 1962 to a religious family of Lower Dir.

Sirajul Haq holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Peshawar as well as an MA in Education from the University of Punjab.

Lesser known facts:

1) Sirajul Haq was Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba chief from 1988-1991.

2) He remained finance minister of KP govt twice but resigned both of times.

Political Career:

Sirajul Haq rose to prominence in 2002, when he won as a provincial candidate on MMA ticket from PF-95 Lower Dir. He was made finance minister of Akram Durrani's cabinet but he resigned because of a drone attack at a religious seminary in Bajaur district of KP.

He again contested from PK-95 Lower Dir in 2013 on a provincial assembly ticket of JI and remained successful. He was made finance minister in coalition govt of PTI in KP but later resigned because of holding party portfolio.

In March 2015, he ran for Senate elections and won. He remained in the Senate till March 2021.

In 2018, he lost his National Assembly contest from NA-7, Lower Dir. 

Election 2024:

JI leader Sirajul Haq is vying for NA seat from his mountainous seat of NA-6, Lower Dir. PTI-backed Muhammad Bashir Khan and PPP's Muhammad Hanif Khan are his competitors here.
