Iran FM reaches Pakistan on key visit

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian reached Islamabad on Sunday night a day after gunmen killed nine Pakistanis in southeast Iran amid strained ties between the two neighbors.
Amir-Abdollahian who is leading a high-level political, military and security delegation landed at the Nur Khan Air Force Base in Rawalpindi.
The top Iranian diplomat and accompanying delegation were received and welcomed officials of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, as well as the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan.
During the visit, Iranian FM Abdollahian would meet his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani and other Pakistani officials to address the issues of mutual concern.
He will also meet caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar to discuss security, economic and trade issues during the one-day visit.
The visit comes after Iran and Pakistan announced in a joint statement on January 22 that their respective ambassadors will return to their posts following brief tensions caused by cross-border missile strikes against hideouts of terrorists in the two countries earlier this month.
