ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The District and Sessions Court Islamabad fixed February 10 for indicting former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in a fraud case.

Fawad Chaudhry's lawyers Qaiser Imam and Mirza Asim Baig appeared in the court. Lawyer Qaiser Imam said that he had taken the case now, and time is needed to see the file.

A request was also filed by Fawad to appear in court without handcuffs. His lawyer argued that Fawad is the counsel of the Supreme Court and had been a minister, so he should not be handcuffed. The judge remarked that all these things make Fawad above the rest of the prisoners.

The lawyer said that his client was sometimes presented in court with his face covered and sometimes handcuffed. This becomes the headlines of the media, all this is done to humiliate him. He said that he would present various court decisions showing that the purpose of handcuffing is to prevent the accused from escaping. Moreover, in the subcontinent handcuffing is used for humiliation. Fawad Chaudhry will be representing us in the assembly tomorrow, the lawyer declared.

On this, the judge said that he would look into the matter and pass a suitable order. Judge Muhammad Sohail court adjourned the hearing of the case till February 10.
