Poliovirus detected in environmental samples from nine districts: ministry
ISLAMABAD (APP) – The Ministry of Health has confirmed the presence of poliovirus in the environmental samples taken from nine districts of the country.
According to a spokesperson for the Health Ministry, the virus was found in one sample each from Quetta, Mastung, Multan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Hub, Malir, Karachi South and DI Khan.
The spox said that the virus found in all the samples was from across the border, emphasising that the only way to prevent transmission of the virus was through vaccination.
He observed that children could be protected from disability through immunization against the crippling disease.
