PML-N, IPP finalise seat arrangement for 5 NA, 11 Punjab constituencies: sources
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) have reportedly reached a consensus on a seat-adjustment formula for the upcoming general elections.
A formal announcement in this regard is expected by Tuesday.
Sources familiar with the negotiations between the two parties have indicated the possibility of the IPP being accommodated on seven national and 11 provincial assembly seats. Initially, the IPP had demanded adjustments for 13 national and 22 provincial assembly seats.
Details indicate that instead of Lodhran, IPP chief Jahangir Tareen may be adjusted from NA-149 Multan, Aleem Khan from NA-117 Lahore, Aon Chaudhry from NA-128 Lahore, Nauman Langrial from Sahiwal, and Engineer Gul Asghar from Khushab.
Sources also suggest that Amir Kiyani may be adjusted from Islamabad, and Ghulam Sarwar Khan from Rawalpindi.
Firdous Ashiq, Humayun Akhtar, and Rana Nazir will not be part of the adjustment. Farrukh Habib from Faisalabad and Noreen Shaukat from Sahiwal will not be adjusted either.
According to sources, Aleem Khan will also be adjusted on a provincial seat, and Hashim Dogar will be adjusted on another provincial seat. There is a possibility that Murad Raas may not be adjusted.
