Pakistan
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Anti-Corruption Establishment had arrested him over embezzlement charges
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A judicial magistrate in the federal capital on Saturday ordered to house senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser, who was arrested a day earlier, in prison after which the Islamabad police shifted him to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.
Earlier, an Anti-Corruption Establishment Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s team had taken the former speaker of National Assembly into custody over embezzlement charges.
The magistrate, Qudratullah, also directed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s top anti-graft department to complete the legal requirements within a week.
On Friday, Qaiser was shifted to Banigala police station for further interrogation in connection with his alleged involvement in corruption scandal of Gajju Khan Medical College, Swabi.
The latest arrest comes as another setback for the party, which is already embroiled in legal battles with party’s top leadership behind bars in different cases.
Last week, Qaiser and Ali Muhammad Khan held a meeting with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to condole with him on the sad demise of his mother-in-law while also discussing the prevailing political situation in the country.
