KARACHI (Dunya News) – Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has been elected unopposed as the union council chairman from Ibrahim Haideri Town in the by-elections.

According to reports, two candidates withdrew their nomination papers from Ibrahim Haideri, one from the PTI and the other from the PPP.

According to the Sindh Local Government Act, a candidate must contest the union council election within six months if they are directly elected as mayor. This rule also applies to those who become the chairman of the district council.

Murtaza Wahab, who was directly elected as the mayor of Karachi, has now been elected unopposed as the chairman of the union council of Ibrahim Hyderi Town.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue the notification for Murtaza Wahab's election as the chairman of the union council.
