CEC meets former opposition leader Raja Riaz
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja met the former opposition leader in the National Assembly Raja Riaz to discuss election-related matters.
In a statement issued, Raja Riaz emphasised the importance of the Election Commission's suggestions regarding the upcoming elections.
He also mentioned that the president's letter to the chief election commissioner was written under pressure.
Raja Riaz further shared his prediction that the elections will take place in mid-February and mentioned that he was called by the Election Commission for suggestions.
One of the suggestions put forward by Raja Riaz, as he said, was to involve judges as Returning Officers (ROs), as this would result in more transparent and unbiased results. He said that the Election Commission assured him the conduct of fair and transparent elections.
Talking about the party he would join to contest elections, Raja said, it was not yet finalised.
