Former PM’s wife Bushra Bibi appears before accountability court

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - An accountability court of Islamabad on Wednesday rejected PTI chairman's pre-arrest bail pleas in the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption and Toshaskhana cases.

Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir conducted hearing of the applications for pre-arrest bail filed by PTI chairman and Bushra Bibi in the 190 million pound corruption case.

Wife of PTI chief appeared before the judge while the former prime minister did not attend the hearing. During the hearing, Judge Muhammad Bashir asked, “Has warrant for Bushra Bibi been issued? Where is the investigating officer? Is this case an inquiry or is it at the investigation stage?”

On this, NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi said no arrest orders had been issued as yet. Bushra Bibi's lawyer Khawaja Haris said the case had now become an investigation. Lawyer Intizar Panjotha sought bail for his clients for future.

The court has already ordered authorities not to arrest Bushra Bibi in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case. Bushra Bibi marked her attendance and left the court.

Later, the court announced its already reserved judgements regarding pre-arrest bail of PTI chief. The court rejected the petitions of PTI chairman in Toshakhana and Al-Qadir Trust cases for non-compliance.

After the petitions were dismissed by the court, the former prime minister will now have to face the 190 million pounds and Toshakhana inquiry as well. On the other hand, the court disposed of PTI chairman’s wife Bushra Bibi's interim bail application in the 190 million pound case.
