The judge sought arguments on acquittal plea on July 26

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A court in the federal capital on Monday granted bail to the PTI chairman and his wife Bushra Bibi in a case challenging their nikkah as “illegal and un-Islamic”.

Civil Judge Qudratullah approved their bail against Rs30,000 surety bonds each. He, however, fixed July 26 to hear arguments on their petition seeking acquittal in the case.

The PTI chief appeared before the court along with his lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat, who also submitted an attorney to represent Bushra Bibi in the case.

The lawyer also filed a plea seeking exemption from appearance for the PTI chief’s wife as he was scheduled to appear before the Islamabad High Court and a police station.

He further said he was ready to present arguments today (Monday) if the court admitted the acquittal plea of his clients.

Later, the judge approved the PTI chief and his wife’s bail and directed the lawyer to submit arguments on July 26.
