PDMA advised citizens not to go near rivers, streams and avoid touching electricity poles
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has released details of the casualties within last 24 hours due to the rainfall.
PDMA spokesperson said four people lost their lives and eight got injured in Punjab due to the heavy downpour causing flood threats. The fatalities occurred in Lahore, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Faisalabad. Among the deceased, three women and a child are included. Additionally, five houses have been affected by roof collapses caused by the rain.
The PDMA urged the public to avoid going near rivers and streams, as well as to prevent children from bathing in rivers and canals. It is a mutual responsibility of all to keep children away from inundated spots in low-lying areas. People are also advised to avoid touching electric poles and wires.
The spokesperson further stated that adhering to the directives of PDMA and district administration can help minimize losses. Rescue teams and authorities are on high alert all the time. The public is advised not to reside in dilapidated buildings. In case of any emergencies, relevant authorities should be informed immediately.
