ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The federal government on Thursday announced public holidays on Muharram 9 and 10.
The country will observe holidays on July 28 and July 29. The cabinet division issued notification in this regard.
Pillion riding banned in Karachi
Karachi administration notified ban on pillion riding on these two holidays.
Army deployment
The interior ministry decided to deploy army in the country on this occasion. The ministry invoked Article 245 of the constitution to deploy the army. The ministry also forwarded the notification to all provinces and Gilgit Baltistan.
Pakistan Army, along with the police and other law enforcement agencies, would be responsible for ensuring the security of all processions and gatherings during Muharram.
This decision was made due to the prevailing security situation in the country.
