Malik spells another warning for Karachi extortionists

Rehman Malik on Saturday vowed to chase Karachi extortionists to their graves.

Talking to the media after addressing a ceremony held at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Korangi Association of Trade and Industries, Interior Minister Rehman Malik once again strictly warned the extortionists and target killers that strict action will be taken against them. He assured the traders and industrialists about foolproof security arrangements in industrial areas. He said SSPs would be deputed in the areas while one DIG would also be deployed in the industrial areas.He added that a new system regarding mobile phone companies is being introduced and according to the new system, the person who wants to buy a cell phone set would also purchase a SIM.About the regional situation, Rehman Malik said peace in the region depends on peace in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The deteriorating situation in the region is due to the USSR invasion in Afghanistan in 1979, the minister said. All security forces including Army are engaged to maintain law and order situation in the country, he added.Talking about the details of extortionists and target killers, the interior minister said the list of 42 extortionists and 83 target killers has been completed. He said that the court would be requested to allow presence of the target killers before media.To the question regarding Supreme Court’s verdict in Karachi law order situation case, Malik assured that the government would implement the decision in letter and spirit.President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minster Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Sindh Chief Minister, the DIG Rangers, the IG Sindh and Additional IG Karachi and others played significant role in restoring peace in Karachi, he said.Rehman Malik said that Taliban and Haqqani Network are creation of international spy agencies to malign the image of Pakistan.Criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Rehman Malik said Main Nawaz should keep in mind that all the good works have been done by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He cited NFC Award, 18th Amendment and Aghaz-e-Haqooq Balochistan as examples.
