Police say two of the injured seem in a critical condition

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - A suicide blast in Peshawar's Hayatabad area on Tuesday afternoon left eight people injured.

Police said a suicide bomber exploded himself near the Frontier Constabulary (FC) vehicle. Eight people were injured who were being transported to hospitals by teams of police and rescue personnel.

Police immediately cordoned off the area and helped rescuers shift the injured to hospitals. They said two of the injured seemed in a critical condition.

Recent terrorism incidents

Pakistan has seen spike in terror activities, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government last year.

A few days ago, an attack was launched at Zhob garrison in which nine soldiers were martyred while security forces killed five terrorists. According to Zhob District Commissioner Azeem Kakar, a woman was among those killed in the incident.

Earlier, security forces came under attack from militants in Sui during an operation in the area.

Army's concerns

The army has expressed concerns on the “safe havens and liberty of action available to” TTP in Afghanistan.

“It is expected that the interim Afghan government would not allow the use of its soil to perpetrate terror against any country, in the real sense and in line with commitments made in the Doha agreement,” an Inter-Service Public Relations statement said.

“The involvement of Afghan nationals in acts of terrorism in Pakistan is another important concern that needs to be addressed. Such attacks are intolerable and would elicit an effective response from the security forces of Pakistan,” it added.

This is a developing story...
