Court displeased with accumulated rainwater at CBD underpass
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court has hinted at imposing a fine of Rs 5,000 on motorcyclists not wearing helmets.
Justice Shahid Karim of the the Lahore High Court, while conducted hearing of petitions filed against smog, expressed displeasure over the traffic wardens blocking the road at various places in Lahore.
Justice Shahid Karim remarked, “Impose a fine of Rs5,000 on citizens who do not wear helmets. They will automatically mend their ways and avoid committing violation.”
“Launch a 10-day helmet wearing drive for safety of people,” he remarked.
The LHC justice said wardens were imposing fines on violators of traffic rules by blocking half of the roads which caused a traffic chaos.
The court expressed strong displeasure over accumulated rainwater at CBD underpass. The court said in its remarks that the underpass could not withstand even the first rain. The
LDA chief engineer should have resigned by himself. The court sought a report on the damage to the surrounding houses due to stagnant water. Further hearing of the case was adjourned till next Friday.
